\/><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\\Most antibacterials have a systemic MoA, fewer were for pulmonary, purely GI, or topical use:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/allphasepharma.com\/dir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Action-Site1.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-1336 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/allphasepharma.com\/dir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Action-Site1.jpg?resize=298%2C125&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Action Site\" width=\"298\" height=\"125\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Most QIDP drugs are currently in Phases 2 and 3 of development, some have already been approved:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/allphasepharma.com\/dir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Phase-of-Dev.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-1337 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/allphasepharma.com\/dir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Phase-of-Dev.jpg?resize=294%2C122&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Phase of Dev\" width=\"294\" height=\"122\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some interesting findings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Combination therapy with a potent BLI is making\u00a0a come-back. The arrival of avibactam (ceftazidime\/avibactam = Avycaz\u00ae) and other novel late-stage BLI from Merck and TMC will change our\u00a0approach to ESBL infections.<\/li>\n<li>Surprising the number of quinolones with MRSA activity as their only claim to fame (i.e., differentiation).<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a06 pulmonary drugs are inhaled generic antibiotics from well-known\u00a0drug classes; hence, not truly representing innovation from the antibiotic point-of-view.
